Here's a peek at some fun stuff we've done (in random order): dipping string in hot wax, rubber band guitar, water jar scale, a river expedition, playing in the sand, fractions, and learning about life cycles with our pea plants.
15 school days down, 165 to go...
I need to do something with candles because Saha asked how they work and said she wanted to do a science investigation to find out. I'm not even sure where to start with that! I guess make our own? What are the colored flat pieces called? They look neat.
ReplyDeleteThe candles were fun and pretty easy. We melted the wax in a jar in boiling water. My book said you can use crayons but I didn't have any so we used white candles. The wick is cotton. We just talked about the three states of matter. You dip the string in the wax then in cold water, back and forth. The fraction pieces are called Frax Prax Squares from Classroom Products. I got them at a yard sale from a math teacher.
